Thai Herbal Compress Massage

Ayurveda traditions date back more than 2500 years in India. In fact, many eastern bodywork traditions share roots and common elements with Ayurveda, including Thai Massage, Shiatsu, Acupuncture and Acupressure.
Ayurveda emphasizes prevention of illness, more than treatment of symptoms. Healthy diet, exercise, hydrotherapy, meditation, and massage are all crucial elements in maintaining balance within the body and mind, and thus preventing illness. Natural herbal treatments are regularly used in Ayurveda, including this Thai-bodywork technique.
As in the other eastern traditions, Ayurveda views the body as composed of invisible but crucial channels and centers of energy. Anything which interferes with the flow of energy throughout the body will ultimately lead to illness, so it is by keeping the energy flowing that massage can help prevent illness.
In this session, you will be
dressed in loose, comfortable clothes. The work is done on a traditional Thai
mat on the floor. As in Traditional Thai Massage, the Thai Herbal Compress Massage consists
of a series of massage compressions combined with Thai-yoga stretches. What
makes the session unique is the application of traditional steamed hot/cold herbal
bundles during the massage.
These traditional bundles are known as lukprakob and can be used in a variety of ways. With more than twenty wonderful healing herbs: Aromatic Salisb, Derris Scandens Benth, Zingiber cassumunar, Cassumunar, Camphor, Borneo camphor, Cinnamon, Citronella, Cryptolepis buchannai roem, Curcuma aromatica salisb, Galangal, Lemon Grass, Kaffir lime, Leech lime, Wild Lime, Menthol, Patchouli, Prai Ginger, Tamarind leaves, Turmeric oil, etc, they are highly aromatic, so they stimulate your respiratory system. Because they are steamed, the heat is extremely effective in penetrating deep into your muscles to dissipate tension and pain. Depending on your needs, the bundles might be hot or cold and be applied to specific locations to address areas of discomfort, or they could be used across the body to promote the flow of energy throughout the body's systems.
This is a unique and specialized massage therapy you will not easily find elsewhere.
